Step 6: Gain Required Training & Ethics Approval
Training
Complete mandatory research training modules offered through HNE Health or partner organisations, including:
o
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) for clinical trials in Australia
o Ethics and governance training
o Data privacy and security training
These ensure your research complies with national standards and protects participants.
Ethics Approval
Submit your proposal to the HNE Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) or another recognised ethics body.
The ethics application includes study rationale, methodology, consent processes, and participant protections.
The Research Office can guide you through completing applications and responding to queries.
Additional approvals
Depending on your project, you may need governance approval from specific clinical units or Indigenous health advisory groups, especially if working with Aboriginal communities
